The Electoral Commission (EC) has Tuesday successfully concluded the nomination of 11 Presidential Candidates who will contest for the highest office in the country in the upcoming general elections.

Today EC led by Justice Simon Byabakama approved 8 candidates, 5 independents who include Joseph Kabuleta, Fred Mwesigye, Nancy Kalembe, Willy Mayambala and John Katumba.

Political party flagbearers also nominated on Tuesday are DP president general Norbert Mao, People Power leader Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine and FDC strongman Patrick Oboi Amuriat.

They join NRM chairman President Yoweri Museveni, ANT’s Mugisha Muntu and independent candidate Henry Tumukunde who were nominated yesterday.

However, Tuesday’s nomination has been characterized by a series of violent scenes at Kyambogo- the nomination venue, FDC headquarters in Najjanankumbi and Magere at Bobi Wine’s home as security battled with two opposition leaders who had vowed to address gathering which is against the EC set guidelines due to COVID-19 pandemic.
