Muntu’s Campaign premised on Restoring Dignity

Maj. Gen. Gregory Mugisha Muntuyera has Monday been nominated by the Electoral Commission to contest as a presidential candidate in the 2021 general elections on Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) ticket.

Mugisha Muntu was accompanied by 10 persons as stipulated by EC, including his wife Julia Muntu.

His team was then taken through the nomination procedures before his documents were submitted for verification by his nominator.

The seconders to Mugisha Muntu’s nomination included Hon. Alice Alaso, Hon. Winnie Kizza, Owek. Ssewavu Serubiri and former Ambassador Edith Grace Sempala.

Justice Byabakama then confirmed Mugisha Muntu as a dully nominated candidate to contest in the 2021 presidential race.

Byabakama also handed over a security patrol vehicle [double-cabin] and assigned security officers to Maj. Gen Mugisha Muntu, who will man his security during his campaign tour ahead of the 2021 Presidential elections.

Speaking to the media after the nomination exercise, Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu said he was honored to have become the first presidential flag-bearer for the young ANT party, and called on the EC to remain independent in its role of executing a free, fair and transparent election.

“I believe we are starting a new chapter of this country in this minute, hour and year as we go through this exercise using various means. Today is the beginning of victory in this country; we want justice and transparent competition for power and there should be a sense where everyone is equal in law,” Muntu said.
He added that it was important for Ugandans to remain dignified in their actions as well as make informed choices, for the development of the country.
Gregory Mugisha Muntuyera, commonly referred to as Mugisha Muntu, was born in October 1958.
He is a Ugandan politician and retired military officer, and is also the President of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT); a political party he founded in March 2019.
