All Presidential Aspirants whose credentials are verified and cleared for nomination have been summoned for compulsory COVID-19 testing tomorrow Friday, TrumpetNews has learnt.

The testing will be carried out at the Electoral Commission (EC) head offices at Jinja Road in Kampala.

This website understands the EC chairman Justice Byabakama made the announcement on Thursday while meeting Presidential Aspirants to harmonise on the nomination program.

“You will come here with your 9 supporters who will escort you for nomination and be tested for COVID-19,” Mr Byabakama told the aspirants.

Some of the aspirants who attended the meeting include Gen. Mugisha Muntu, Gen. Henry Tumukunde and Nancy Kalembe.

President Museveni was represented by NRM secretary general Justine Lumumba while Lewis Rubongoya represented Robert Kyagulanyi.

TrumpetNews further understands that EC alongside experts from Ministry of Health will conduct the COVID-19 test free of charge.

In the event that some aspirants doubt Ministry of Health tests, EC has asked them to carry out a test from their own trusted agencies.

“All we want is s genuine COVID-19 testing certificate. But you must know that the commission will not cater for that expense,” Byabakama informed the aspirants.

The test must be conducted within 72 hours before the nomination.

The nomination is slated for November 2 and 3 at Kyambogo University ground.
