The Electoral Commission has cleared National Unity Platform (NUP) flagbearer Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine for Presidential nominations slated for November 3.

EC issued a memo on Wednesday listing Bobi Wine among the 10 aspirants whose particulars have been verified and cleared.

Among those who have been verified and cleared for nomination include President Yoweri Museveni (NRM), Mugisha Muntu (ANT), Patrick Amuriat Oboi (FDC), Joseph Kabuleta (Independent), Henry Tumukunde (Independent), and others.

EC set November 2 and 3 as official dates for nomination of Presidential candidates at Kyambogo grounds.

Media reports earlier suggested that Bobi Wine’s signatures he submitted as endorsement from supporters were being queried by Electoral Commission.

Bobi Wine submitted 33000 signatures to EC and the commission required only 9800 as mandated in the law.

EC spokesperson Paul Bukenya said it is true Bobi Wine and other aspirants have been cleared for nomination.
