Col. Shaban Bantariza Succumbs to COVID-19 at Mulago Hospital

The government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo has confirmed that his deputy Col. Shaban Bantariza succumbed to Coronavirus as earlier reported by this website.

Opondo, while addressing the media at Mulago Hospital said Bantariza was admitted to the facility after developing COVID-19 symptoms a few days ago.

He was put on ventilator to support him to breath because he had complications.

Mr Bantariza was taken into ICU before he slipped into coma and on Tuesday at 2am he breathed his last.

Opondo says burial arrangements are underway and government will communicate more details.

Earlier, Opondo said Bantariza died of hypertension but he hadn’t received an official communication from Mulago Hospital.
