Developing Story: Sodo on his Way for Nomination as Independent Candidate

Sodo stepped down from the race a few hours to election. His supporters remains furious over his actions.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s brother Godfrey Aine Kaguta alias Sodo is on his way to be nominated by Electoral Commission as an Independent candidate after NRM blocked his endorsement as flagbearer for Mawogola North constituency.

According to a reliable source, Sodo made a decision to contest as independent after he was “betrayed” by his own party tribunal.

Yesterday this website broke a story how Sodo had been disqualified by the NRM tribunal chaired by Enoch Barata after giving credence to a petition from his rival Shartsi Kutesa.

The tribunal thus forwarded the petition to NRM top organ Central Executive Committee (CEC) for further direction.

Sodo had defeated Kutesa with 1580 votes in the primary election. She however, petitioned the tribunal citing irregularities.

A separate source that talked to this website about Sodo’s woes said that, he (Sodo) was disappointed that the NRM leaders including his own brother- President Museveni were against his candidature.

“It is not about Sodo or his relationship with the President. No it is about the people of Ssembabule,” Sodo is quoted to have said.
