Patrick Oboi Amuriat has automatically gone through as the FDC flagbearer for 2021 general elections.
His main challenger Waswa Biriggwa has Thursday withdrawn from the race saying he was gifting Amuriat the opportunity to give President Yoweri Museveni a run for his money.
Biriggwa further said that his decision was meant to unify the FDC since the last time the party held an election it sparked off hostility and departure of senior party leaders led by Mugisha Muntu.
The National Council of FDC had convened at the FDC head offices to elect a flagbearer.
