Kidandala gangs up against Bobi Wine vows to Crush Ssegirinya in Kawempe after NUP questioned his Credentials

Kidandala (left) has been pushed out of NUP

After choosing Mohammad Ssegirinya over Sulaiman Kidandala as National Unity Platform (NUP) flagbearer for Kawempe North, the latter has contested the party’s decision vowing to challenging the former for the same seat.

Kidandala is among the disenchanted NUP officials who don’t agree with the party’s decision of selecting candidates through vetting.

Kidandala, addressing the media on Tuesday said he has made up his mind and will face off with Mr Ssegirinya who was awarded the flag basing on his popularity on ground.

NUP vetting committee considered two areas to select its candidates for constituencies; popularity and oral interview.

Kidandala said he couldn’t wait for 48-hour ultimatum issued to him to explain his decision whether he concurs with the party or otherwise.

“I will not wait for the 48 hours. The people of Kawempe have asked me to represent them and now is the time,” Kidandala said.

He added that he chose to disagree with the party because the will of the people of Kawempe is democracy.

“They want no one else apart from Kidandala.” He will contest as Independent candidate.

NUP, a new political party led by Hon Robert Kyagulanyi has lately been battling internal dissent by members who were thrown of the races.

Some of the members rejected by the Kyagulanyi administration are long-experienced opposition politician who feel betrayed having defected from their original parties like Democratic Party where Kidandala and a couple of other members belonged.
