Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has come out to explain why its founder Kizza Besigye went into self-isolation which triggered speculation that he is COVID19 positive.

The deputy spokesperson John Kikonyogo told journalists on Monday at the party head offices that Dr Besigye is negative although he met someone who later tested positive.

On Sunday night taking through Twitter, Besigye announced that he had gone into self- isolation. However, he couldn’t divulge more details.

Besigye was explaining why he missed out on the burial of Nasser Ntege Ssebagglala, the former Mayor of Kampala he died a week ago.

Mr Kokonyo said Besigye held a meeting and one of the people he met later tested positive, prompting the opposition heavyweight to go into isolation since he is identified as a contact.

But Mr Kikonyogo couldn’t mention where and who took part in that meeting.

Kikonyogo said Besigye was only following the World Health Organization and Ministry of Health guidelines.
