Ntungamo Chief Magistrate has remanded Minister Mwesigwa Rukutana for more 7 days and will return to Court for bail hearing.

The Magistrate sent the Minister to Kitalya Prison in Mityana, 300kms from his home in Rugongi, Ntungamo district.

Rukutana and his three escorts returned to Ntungamo Court on Tuesday to take plea on charges of Attempted Murder, Malicious Damage and Threatening Violence.

On Monday Ntungamo Grade One Magistrate Nazifah Namayanja remanded Minister Mwesigwa Rukutana to Kakiika Prison until Tuesday (today) when we would appear before the Chief Magistrate.

The Labour Minister was arrested Saturday after he orchestrated post election violence in Rushenyi Country, a constituency he contested with Naome Kabasharira in the NRM primaries which he reportedly lost.

Rukutana and his men allegedly attacked Dan Rweiburingi and injured him deeply. He is currently hospitalised in Mbarara.

Reports earlier emerged that Rukutana shot Rweiburingi an allegation that was been dismissed as untrue.
