Dan Rweiburingi, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) member who got injured in Ntungamo election violence has cleared air saying he wasn’t shot by Minister Mwesigwa Rukutana as earlier alleged.
This website has obtained a video in which Mr Rweiburingi confesses that he was hit on the head but rather beaten.
The video was recorded in Mbarara Hospital and the patient is seen being fed as he narrated how injuries were inflicted on him.
“He beat the head,” Rweiburingi responded to a woman who asked what happened.
He is overheard saying his legs were paralyzed and therefore couldn’t stretch them.
Rweiburingi goes ahead to confirm that he wasn’t shot at.
Rweiburingi was attacked by Minister Rukutana and his guards on Saturday on grounds that the FDC member had invaded his (Rukutana) home with a gang of goons who blocked him from going to a burial.
Other reports obtained by this website indicated that Rweiburingi acting on credible intelligence learnt that the Minister was in possession of voters registers which disappeared from Rubaare Town Council.
A scuffle ensued at Rubaare Town and Rweiburingi was injured.
Social media reports indicated that Rukutana and his guards sprayed bullets and Rweiburingi was injured before he was rushed to Mbarara Hospital,
Rukutana and his three escorts have so far spent two nights in Mbarara police custody and will be arraigned in Court on Monday afternoon.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Monday morning said Rukutana will be prosecuted with robust charges including attempted murder.
