The URA Board of Directors has announced Abel Kagumire as the substantive Commissioner Customs who replaces Dickson Kateshumbwa who resigned in May to join politics.
Kagumire, a senior official at URA has been acting in the position for nearly three months.
On Wednesday the board held a special sitting and interviewed candidates for the vacant senior management positions in Customs, Corporate Services and Domestic Taxes.
“The board has consequently made the following appointments; Abel Kagumire as Commissioner Customs, Richard Kariisa as Commissioner Corporate Services and John Tinka as Assistant Commissioner Large Taxpayer’s Office,” the board announced.
The appointments will take effect September 1, 2020.
