Uganda could be headed into another phase of lockdown as the second wave of Coronavirus pandemic continues to hit hard with deaths and infections.
On Friday the Health Ministry announced that results from COVID-19 tests carried out on 20th August, 2020 confirmed 98 new COVID-19 cases.
This brings the total confirmed COVID-19 cases of Ugandans to 1848.
Uganda has so far recorded 19 deaths.
On Thursday, the Ministry said 3 people had succumbed to the virus.
The fatalities are residents of Kampala; two males aged 45 and 31 years old and a 57-year-old female who passed on while in admission at different private hospitals in Kampala.
They presented with signs and symptoms of COVID-19.
The breakdown of the 98 new COVID-19 cases is as follows:
Seventy five Fifty-three (75) are from Kampala, 6 from Luweero, 3 from Jinja, 2 from Tororo, 4 from Adjumani, Buikwe, Kasese and Ntoroko.
5 are truck drivers who arrived from Kenya.
3 are returnees from DRC, South Sudan and Kenya.
11 truck drivers from Rwanda, Kenya and DRC were not permitted entry into the country.
