In 1989, 3 years after the NRA/M had captured power, one of the bush war fighters- Col Kizza Besigye detected that the Commander in Chief (CiC) Gen. Yoweri Museveni is not a trusted leader.
And therefore, he was completely deceptive in his actions and rhetoric, and would be an impediment to justice and democracy as time goes on.
This is how Col. Besigye a former personal doctor to Gen. Museveni described the latter on Thursday night while explaining to Ugandans how he fell out with the regime in 1999.
Besigye, has been fighting Museveni politically for 20 years and is yet to oust him from power.
In what can be seen as re-strategizing, Col. Besigye has bowed out of 2021 election which his long time political adversary will participate in to extend his military rule for 40 years.
Kizza Besigye, a former political strategist for Museveni, told Ugandans live on NTV basing from his palatial residence in Kasangati, Wakiso District that he sensed that Museveni was not real four years after taking leadership when the NRM chairman tactfully began opposing suggestion raised by his comrades which he predicted would obstruct his path to rule Uganda forever.
“Mr Museveni is a man who will never tell you the truth. When you meet him on his way and he says he is taking that direction, know he is taking a completely different direction,” Besigye said.
He said that in 1989 he told fellow historicals that Museveni was “fake” but “they insisted that we will let him rule for only one term,” he added.
Kizza Besigye would fall out with Museveni 10 years later and in 2000 he declared his bid for President.
Until to-date Besigye has never stopped fighting the man he once treated as a personal physician.
He says that he will never stop fighting until he expires as long he is alive and Museveni is still in power.
