President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni had directed his right hand woman Col Edith Nakalema to arrest all police officers who neglected their duty as St Peter Church Ndeeba was razed down on Monday night.
The demolition sparked off anger among the Ugandans particularly Christians who have strongest emotions tied to this church which has existed for over 45 years.
It later ermeged that Three Police Officers who were supposed to provide security to Church properties but failed to do so have also been arrested.
They are: DPC Katwe SP Epedu David, OC Station Ndeeba Police Station ASP Mugira Yeko Kato and Field Force Unit (FFU) Commander KMP/South Region ASP Isabirye Kaloli.
The officers were arrested along with other 11 suspects including 7 muslims.
The suspects are Kawooya Mohammad, Bbosa Muniru, Kiberu Amza, Mutebi Abbasi, Bulega Ali, Matovu Simon ,Kalika Ali, Mujuzi Andrew, Ssekito Badru, Isirinya John and Maruti Bashir.
We have since learnt that the police officers have been arrested by Col. Nakelema on orders of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
“On the night of 9th August 2020, we received information that St Peter Church of Uganda Ndeeba which has been existence for over 45 years was being demolished under the watch of some of police officers,” Nakalema told this website.
She added that Museveni has been briefed and directed that all public officers involved are held accountable.
Also Nakalema arrested the KCCA acting director physical planning Ivan Katongole who is accused of ignoring the church’s side and issued a demolition order.
