State minister for higher education John Chrysostom Muyingo says that the ministry is ready to open up schools if the ministry of health gives them permission.
It should be noted that all schools and institutions of learning were closed in March as one of the measures to combat the spread of COVID-19.
Muyingo says that they cannot re-open schools without getting clearance from scientists and their fate lies with the Ministry of Health.
Muyingo has instead asked students to continue with home schooling and urged parents to ensure their children embrace home schooling.
Muyingo adds that they have a team of experts from the ministry to study the preparedness of schools to re-open in relation to Special Operation procedures that were set by the Ministry of Health.
The schools, churches and bars were the first to be closed by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in March this years following the outbreak of Coronavirus in Uganda.
