Moses Kigongo Raises 3 Fundamental Points why He should Retain office

Moses Kigongo

The ruling party’s First National Vice Chairman Hon. Alhaji Moses Kigongo has written to NRM members explaining why he is still fit for the same office for the next five years.

By virtue of his position, Kigongo deputizes President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as the NRM chairman.

Below we produce Kigongo’s campaign message:

Dear Delegates

I greet you in the name of the Almighty Allah, the most gracious and the most merciful.

I congratulate you for making it to this historical day of the 4th Election Cycle since reinstating of Multiparty Democracy in Uganda. The NRM party has won all these elections and we have enjoyed comfortable majority at all elective levels.

This has proved our popularity among Ugandans which is also proof of our Vision for a secure, stable and prosperous Uganda since 1986.

We have been able to achieve the above due to clear headed leadership and a strong spirit of teamwork under the guidance of our four core principles of the NRM, namely;

Patriotism

Pan Africanism

Socio-economic transformation, and

Democracy

In this regard, I wish to offer myself once again to continue serving you as the First National Vice Chairperson of the NRM.  Below are the reasons why I am persuaded to continue serving you:

CONTINUING THE NRM LEGACY

As you are aware, the NRM had a strong foundation with a clear Mission of transforming Uganda in stages. We have attained almost all the stages and now we are at final stages of realizing the middle income status and the East African Federation where our guidance is very crucial.

THE BIG PUSH OF THE YOUNG UGANDANS

This is one of the biggest challenges at this time whereby 15 million out of the 18.7 million registered voters are young people below 40 years. This has attracted them to join politics almost at all levels of leadership. As such we have a big task to mentor and to guide the young people to prepare them for leadership positions in the country.

However, from our experience; the young people regard and respect the advice and guidance of elders who are not in active competitive politics. They are considered reliable and trusted for the purpose of grooming. I believe I am one of such dependable elders and confidants of the young people.

This wave of the young people cannot be taken for granted or wished away. We need to be able to manage their steamy but unguided participation.

UPHOLDING THE VALUES OF THE PARTY

The CEC is the highest organ of the party which sets the party’s agenda, plays an oversight role and is tasked to guide the party and to promote discipline and ethics among the members.

The members of CEC ought to be very senior, highly experienced, loyal, reliable and dependable.  If we have persons that lack the ideology and values of the party this may destroy the party.

I therefore wish to thank all of you who have embraced my unique values. I can’t name names here but I can say that all generations; young and old, have given me their support. Indeed I am particularly thankful to the district agents that were coordinated by my grandson Mr. Kirunda Faruk. I could not physically reach you due to factors of very limited time allocated to campaigns, pressing matters of preparing for our flag bearer to win in the general elections and the COVID guidelines that demand our social distancing.  Thank you NRM members for standing with me and with our Comrade Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to lead us and to be our flag bearer.

I appeal to you to vote wisely. This election can build or destroy our party depending on the quality of leadership at the top.

Overall, while it is appreciated to have new blood and new thinking in the party, it is crucial that we maintain some of the excellent brains of our party founding members who can continue to guide and nurture the young leaders and also to uphold the party founding ideology.

Vote for well tested, clean people, with a rich track-record in the NRM ideology and with an excellent Vision for Uganda, East Africa and Africa at large. I pledge my readiness to continue serving you as your 1st National Vice Chairperson of the NRM.
