Bobi Wine Dumps People Power, Joins National Unity Party as president

Bobi Wine unveiling the party

Presidential Aspirant and Kyadondo East Legislator Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi has joined the leadership of an existing political party identified as National Unity Platform.

He unveiled the political party at his offices in Kamwokya in Kampala on Wednesday.

Bobi Wine has taken over leadership of National Unity Platform political party as President, which has been previously headed by Nkonge Kibalama.

Kibalama told the media that this was a merger between NUP and People Power at the party’s delegates conference on 14th July.

Bobi Wine couldn’t register his Pressure Group, People Power since the name already exists in the Electoral Commission’s records.

Earlier, Bobi Wine told his supporters that he had no plans of registering People Power as a political organisations  because his efforts were reportedly frustrated by government.

The pressure group tried to register People Power as a party but the plans were foiled by President Museveni’s invisible hand through the Electoral Commission (EC), Bobi claimed.

“Even if we try again, they will do the same thing they have done before. You saw last time Balaam Barugahara saying he had registered People Power as his thing. They will play all cards to frustrate our plans, but we are going to use different methods,” he said.
