Just in: FDC Rejects Nomination of MP Nabilah Naggayi for Party Primaries

Kampala Woman MP NAbilah Naggayi Sempala

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Electoral Commission has refused to accept nomination forms of Kampala Woman legislator Hon Nabilah Naggayi Sempala.

Nabilah picked the forms sometime back and and returned them past the deadline of July 14.

According to sources, Nabilah returned the forms on Wednesday, July 15 2020 only to be told by the EC team that she is late.

She had expressed interest in contesting for Kampala Lord Mayor.

Nabilah is among the FDC members who have critically denounced the current FDC regime due to its underhand methods of leadership.

She is a moderate and exercises politics of building structures as opposed to radicalism.

Nabilah becomes the fourth MP whose nomination forms have been thrown out by Toterebuka Bamwenda, the acting FDC chairman.

All the legislators suffering this ordeal are perceived as loyalists of Gen. Mugisha Muntu who once led the party under hostility generated by the radical wing.

This group of extremists dismissed Muntu as a boardroom politician and subsequently forced him out of the party.

He would later form his own party- The Alliance for National Transformation.

So far two MPs have defected from FDC to ANT.

Another hugely respected FDC member and Member of Parliament for Kasese District attached Hon Winnie Kiiza on Tuesday announced she was quitting politics and thus leaving FDC.

She subscribes to Muntu’s style of leadership.

Augustine Ojobile, the FDC EC official responsible for receiving nomination forms for all aspirants when contacted declined to comment on Hon Nabilah’s matter.
