In a bid to clean-up and streamline the entire Customs Department at Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), the tax body’s top leadership has yet again reshuffled warehouse staff deployed in Kampala and in the neighbouring towns.
The changes affecting 138 officers were made on Wednesday- July 8 and take immediate effect according to an official in URA.
Abel Kagumire, the Commissioner Customs is responsible for the reshuffle.
This development comes high on heels of a massive reshuffle in which 211 workers in Customs were rearranged across the country last week.
Whereas it remains unknown what could have prompted these back to back reshuffles, Mr Kagumire earlier said they were streamlining and ensuring smooth operations of the tax body which had in the recent past been infiltrated by unscrupulous individuals.
The President last month said the “dirty boys” in URA had been cleaned up.
URA Commissioner General John Musinguzi Rujooki who took the job in March said he would work with the team to clean the tax body.
