My observation is that the views/ values that Joseph Kabuleta stands for (whether genuinely or not) must make sense to any sane citizen of this country especially those who claim to be 18 years and above.
Kabuleta’s proposed entry into the presidential race may not be of any significant threat to the incumbent president and the NRM after all we have seen many like him before who have tried their luck in vain.
However, his continued veiled attacks against the NRM establishment and moreso the CiC, his close relatives and political allies continues to expose and therefore awaken the sleeping population.
U can only underestimate kabuleta’s role in influencing the politics of this country at your own risk. Joseph has demonstrated that he can fearlessly expose the political administrative “ineptness” and impunity of the NRM establishment especially the nucleus.
He can attack where it pains most and leave the regime with little or no options to convincingly technically defend itself.
He has mastered the heart of using accountability inadequacies as an approach to his politics against the NRM establishment. He uses figures/ statistics and illustrations in a very simplified manner to drive his point home in a manner that’s convincing to his audience.
The declaration of his intentions to join the presidential race is both historical and exciting at the same time. Kabuleta being the first post independent native Munyoro to openly express interest in the country’s top office makes it historical.
His declaration alone is enough to put Bunyoro both on the local and international map and the region being oil rich, it prompts the world to follow Kabuleta’s political moves keenly.
The people of Bunyoro ought to learn and understand more this game called politics both from the global and national perspective. Under normal circumstances, the first people to celebrate the entry of Joseph Kabuleta into the presidential race should be the people of Bunyoro or at least the native Banyoro for the obvious reasons.
Joseph Kabuleta to win the support of the people of Bunyoro alone is enough to prompt government to positively reconsider it’s priorities in Bunyoro and for once give a listening ear to the long time demands of Bunyoro region.
Joseph doesn’t necessarily have to win the presidential race in order for Bunyoro to benefit both politically and otherwise but just to win the support of the people of Bunyoro is enough to make Bunyoro get it’s rightful share of the national cake. The magic card we have here is the oil in Bunyoro region.
It’s rather unfortunate that the first people to cast a stone against Joseph Kabuleta after his expression of interest in the presidency are the native Banyoro. The first person to undermine and cast doubts in Joseph Kabuleta’s presidency is none but a native Munyoro. Can u imagine?
When YK Museveni opted to lead a liberation struggle against the repressive and oppressive rule by the past regimes, he was quickly embraced by his own kinsmen in Ankole before others could join the struggle and this largely explains the dominance by his kinsmen in both the military and political leadership of this country as well as public service.
Now should we also blame such a level of political naivety by the people of Bunyoro on the British imperialists and/ or the usual “suspect” witchcraft?
