Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has reshuffled 211 of its officers working in the Customs Department in the whole country.

The announcement was made by Commissioner Customs Abel Kagumire in a memo copied to the Commissioner General John Rujooki on Monday June 29.

Mr Kagumire said the changes take effect on July 1- Wednesday.

Whereas it remains unknown what could have prompted the reshuffle, Mr Kagumire says the Manager Customs Planning is tasked to facilitate the smooth deployment process before July 1.

URA is one of the government agencies which the President said was habouring unscrupulous officers who have since been cleaned up.

URA boss Rujooki who took the job in March said he would work with the team to streamline the tax body.
