Pierre Nkurunziza to be Buried on Friday, Public told to Wear “special attire”

Fallen former Burundi President Pierre Nkurunziza will be buried this Friday at his ancestral home in Gitega, local media has announced.

“According to a private source, the burial ceremonies of HE the late President Pierre Nkurunziza will take place on Friday June 26, 2020 in,” Burundi Facts an online outlet tweeted.

Adding: “The public is invited to pay their last respects at Ingoma stadium in Gitega at 10AM. A special attire is required.”

The required attire for men is black pants and a white shirt while ladies are recommended to put on traditional “Imvutano Zera” dress.

There will be no suit and tie.

Nkurunziza died on June 8, 2020 of heart attack after short illness at the age of 55.

He is survived by a widow and 5 children and the eldest son is a serving Military officer in Burundi army at a rank of  Lieutenant.

His successor Rtd Gen Evariste Ndayishimiye was sworn in into office last week after winning a majority vote on May 20,2020.
