President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has for the first time spoken out on the recent resignations of top commissioners at Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), a body that is tasked to collect all taxes in the land.

Museveni, who has lately been talking tough on corrupt officials likening them to parasites said he has cleaned URA and is zeroing in on many government who are not willing to change.

“There have been a lot of corruption in URA,” the President said, speaking to the nation shortly after Minister of Finance Hon Matia Kasaijja presented shs 45 trillion budget to Parliament.

Museveni was virtually speaking to MPs from his Entebbe State Lounge.

“That one I have cleaned. Those young people who were given an opportunity to serve their country were instead doing their own things. We shall come for whoever is corrupt,” he added.

Museveni’s comments vindicate TrumpetNews earlier stories that URA commissioners had been forced out over graft.

Museveni, two days ago said the parasites should go to hell.

In March, Museveni dropped Doris Akol as URA commissioner general, replacing her with a longtime NRM cadre John Musinguzi Rujoki who two months later asked three powerful commissioners; Dickson Kateshumbwa, the Commissioner Domestic Taxes, Henry Saka, Commissioner Tax Investigations and Silaj Kanyesigye Assistant Commissioner large taxpayers office to resign from their jobs.
