The Minister of Health Dr Ruth Jane Aceng has warned Ugandans that government may enforce a second phase of the lockdown if the citizens continue misbehaving.
The Minister expressed distress that many Ugandans have deliberately violated the SOPS and health guidelines like putting on masks, social distancing, washing hands regularly and among others in the fight against Coronavirus.
She made the revelation on Wednesday while flagging off the countrywide distribution of face masks.
Aceng has revealed that face masks aimed at reducing the spread of COVID-19 will be distributed door-to-door via Government structures.
She was joined by the 1st Deputy Prime Minister, Gen. Moses Ali, Evelyn Anite (State Minister for Investment and Privatisation), Robinah Nabbanja-State Minister for Health-General Duties, Dr. Diana Atwine-Health Ministry PS, Dr. Henry Mwebesa and Dr Opigo Jimmy among others.
“Ministry of Health will continue to receive face masks from the various manufacturers daily and this will be distributed to all the districts countrywide. Masks will be distributed door-to-door via Government structures,” Aceng added.
A total of 750,000 face masks were handed over by 5 different Ugandan companies on the same day and they will be distributed to Amuru, Adjumani, Kyotera and Rakai Districts, Aceng said.
“All face masks are produced by Ugandan companies. Buy Uganda, Build Uganda,” she said.
The masks are made up of 3 layers; the outer layer is 65% polyester and 35% cotton, middle layer is made up of chiffon while the innermost layer is made of cotton.
Practice social distancing, wash your hands with soap and water/use a hand sanitizer frequently and wear a face mask when in public.
