The Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary Dr. Diana Atwine has scoffed at a clique of “disgruntled” Ugandans who are “wounded” by Ministry of Health’s progress in combating the crisis in Uganda. And these unhappy individuals have since launched malicious attacks on the people are who determined to keep all Ugandans safe.
PS Atwine believes that while executing her duties, not all Ugandans are pleased with her work.
Recently, sponsored online media reports which have since been pulled down suggested that she used influence peddling to award multi-million quarantine deal to her relative who owns hotel in Kampala.
However, it emerged that the resolution to look for hotels in Kampala as quarantine facilities was executed by cabinet and tasked Minister of Tourism Godfrey Kiwanda to implement.
As if that was not enough, social media was Monday awash with pictures of unfinished plush apartments allegedly belonging to Diana Atwine.
The three mega structures, according to reports are located in Kulambiro and Najjera suburbs.
The reports however, don’t contain evidence to prove the PS owns them.
“So am being awarded wealth on social media! Anyway these are the usual roadblocks put in our way by negative forces with hidden agendas. Like I always say, we should’nt be diverted from strategic to petty things. So I own all these buildings that I have never even seen,” Atwine responded on Twitter.
Adding that, “Wow! Life is interesting. Now I know that whoever wrote this really wishes me well. Thank you. Let me claim this in God’s name. They are nice structures
Thank you.Let us stay focused. The negative forces will always be there but we have higher calling and duty to do. The challenges are many that lie ahead. Let us press on.”
The reports leave a hollow of doubt considering that they suggest Atwine has used COVID-19 funds to finance the construction.
“Any sane humanbeing would wonder what type of engineers would erect such a huge building and finish it in just two months. Wouldn’t that be shoddy work?” a concerned Ugandan asked on Twitter.
Another Ugandan on Twitter identified as Sekalala Ronnie reacted to the reports saying the said apartments are in Kyaliwajala and have existed for more than 3 years.
The above allegations came high on heels of similar claims against Minister of Health Ruth Aceng that she has secret dealings in Cannabis.
The reports she termed as false say she was embroiled in a saga over the issuance of licenses to grow cannabis for medicinal purposes.
Atwine said the Ministry is aware of a funded campaign to malign its administrators,.
