Maj. Gen. (RTD) Kasirye Ggwanga who admitted to Nakasero Hospital Intensive Care Unit has been in coma for 9 days.
The controversial soldier was rushed to the facility on May 27, after developing a complication, while at the hospital he slipped into comma after undergoing a brain surgery.
Nakasero medical experts later told Ggwanga’s family that he had blood clot in the brain and one of the veins were operated on.
A the relatives who wished not to be named said, his condition remains worrying as he has been unconscious since Tuesday last week.
On Wednesday night, rumours began flying around that the NRA bush war hero had passed on which UPDF disputed as untrue.
In April, Gwanga was rushed to the army hospital at the head offices in Mbuya, Kampala for treatment.
Without disclosing details of the illness, the military publicist Brig. Richard Karemire said experts were diagnosing Ggwanga and would later ascertain cause of the sickness.
“It will be diagnosed by the competent people,” said Karemire.
But the controversial soldier insisted he had been detained at the army headquarters.
“Maj Gen(Rtd) Kasirye Gwanga has been admitted to the UPDF Senior Officers Diagnostic Centre based in Mbuya. Doctors are taking care of him and there is no reason to speculate on his current whereabouts. He is not under any form of arrest,” Karemire maintained.
