Developing Story: OPM, Finance Ministry Drivers test Postive for COVID-19

Two drivers from Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) and Ministry of Finance have been found with  Coronavirus, this website exclusively reports.

An official from OPM told us that the driver one of the drivers has been chauffeuring a junior Minister in OPM who is part of the COVID-19 Taskforce.

Subsequently all his contacts have been sent into isolation including fellow drivers.

Similarly at Ministry of Finance, officials who came into contact with the sick driver are self quarantined.

Earlier Friday, the Prime Minister announced that he had self isolated himself after his contacts were found infected.

“Friends, I have gone into self isolation after some of my contacts tested positive for COVID19. My own test result is negative, however, I have taken this decision as a health recommended measure,” Rugunda tweeted on Friday morning.

Whereas it remains unclear who his contacts are, the Ministry of Health had earlier announced that all Ministers in Uganda were Friday subjected to mandatory testing.

Rugunda has been one of the government officials at the center of combating the pandemic.

What prompted the Ministry of Health to impose a mandatory test is yet to be known.

No official from both ministries was wiling to speak on the matter when reached.

Ministry of Health Spokesperson Emmanuel Ainebyona when contacted said he was aware.

Since President Museveni lifted the lockdown Uganda has registered increased number of Coronavirus, worryingly from the community.

The latest figures indicate that 7 new cases from Kampala.
