A nurse working with Mulago National Specialized Hospital has tested positive for COVID-19, Ministry of Health confirms.
The new infection brings the total number of frontline health workers who have tested positive for COVID-19 to eight in Uganda
Uganda’s COVID-19 confirmed cases stands at 522
Earlier the confirmed 7 cases of health workers included; 3 nurses, 2 doctors and 2 senior level staff.
They were all admitted to Entebbe Grade B and Mulago National Specialized Hospital but were in stable condition.
A team of experts specialized in Infection, Prevention and Control (IPC), Case Management and Psychosocial management had been in various places where health workers tested positive to evaluate the response and investigate what could have led to the unfortunate infection of the health workers.
The Ministry of Health routinely tests health workers based on the high chances of exposure to COVID-19.
