Panic as COVID-19 Suspect Escapes from Lyantonde Isolation Center

Yasin being taken for testing before he escaped.

The Ministry of Health surveillance team is hunting for Yasin Pussi a resident of Lyantonde who escaped from the quarantine following suspicion that he had come into contact with truck drivers.

The District Health Officer of Lyantonde told the media that Yasin’s samples had been taken but results were not yet out at the time he escaped.

Yasin was reported by town dwellers as having associated with truck drivers since he has been working in the truck parking for over 10 years.

“What remains shocking is that after checking into the isolation unit and his samples were taken, Yasin later disappeared,” said a health official.

The District Health Officer says the suspect has been known by the area people in associating with truck drivers.

“The public contacted us to pick him from where he was in town and we took him to isolation room and take his samples removed for testing but its unfortunately after good hours we didn’t find him inside, he ran away from hospital isolation room where we had put him after taking his sample.”

He says that the team has now started searching for Yasin before he gets into contact with the general public.
