Nakawa Magistrate Court on Friday ordered for the immediate release of Helen Namutamba who had been incarcerated for two days at Kira Road Police Station.
The untouchable Minister is accused of harassing another highly connected Bukedea woman MP Hon Anita Among through her proxy Brian Kinene.
Namutamba through her lawyers Ronald Kasiisa secured the order on Friday fearing the client would be destined to spend a whole weekend in police cell.
The state was represented by State Attorney Johnson Natuhwera.
The Magistrate Ruth Nabaasa ruled that Namutamba be unconditionally released or charged before a competent court and also no orders as to costs.
Namutamba appeared at CID head offices in Kibuli on Wednesday following summons by detective Henry Mugumya who said the Busoga Minister is needed to help in the ongoing investigations into a cyber harassment case.
He was questioned and later taken to her home for search as procedure.
What however remains shocking is that Namutamba’s phones were confiscated by police.
She was later transferred to Kira Road Police Station where she has been until Friday.
But an official in Busoga Kingdom said there is a lot more than cyber harassment which Namutamba is accused of.
