Helen Namutamba, the Minister of Tourism for Busoga Kingdom spent Wednesday night in police cell at Kira Road Station.
The untouchable Minister is accused of harassing another highly connected Bukedea woman MP Hon Anita Among through her proxy Brian Kinene.
Among, after enduring persistent cyber-attacks by Kinene, she lost her cool and reached out to police seeking to be protected under the Computer Misuse Act (CMA).
The accused and the complainant however, are all deeply connected to the regime and they share a mutual friend in Speaker Rebecca Kadaga.
In fact, reports say that Namutamba on learning that Police was plotting her arrest, she sought refuge at Kadaga’s Muyenga residence.
But Among pursued her case which prompted Police CID Director Criminal Investigations detective Henry Mugumya to (on Tuesday 12th May) write to Namutamba summoning her. “to help in the ongoing investigations.”
She appeared at Kibuli on Wednesday with her lawyers.
He was questioned and later taken to her home for search as procedure.
What however remains shocking is that Namutamba’s phones have since been confiscated by police.
She was later transferred to Kira Road Police Station.
But an official in Busoga Kingdom said there is a lot more than cyber harassment which Namutamba is accused of which will be revealed with time.
