A UPDF soldier at the rank of Major has Sunday been killed by a colleague who also injured a junior officer who tried to arrest him at Nakasongola Army Barracks
The shooter is still at large.
“There has been a shooting incident at Nakasongola Cantonment by one soldier leading to death of one Senior Officer at a rank of Major.He also injured a junior officer who had intervened to arrest him and now hospitalized. Investigations have commenced to establish the motive with efforts being made to apprehend the killer now on the run,” Defence spokesperson Brig Richard Karemire confirmed the shooting.
Karemire says investigations have begun to establish the motive of the murder, and also hunt for the killer is on.
Karemire said he couldn’t identify the victims and the suspect by press time.
