Just in: Masindi Man who tested Positive for Coronavirus is a Police Officer

Ministry of Health officials planning to disinfect the whole police facility

A team comprising of the Director Operations, Director Medical Services & Deputy Director Logistics & Engineering of Uganda Police force are meeting District Management teams in Masindi to curtail the spread of COVID 19 in the district.

This follows the newly established case of COVID 19 in Masindi who happens to be a Police CID Detective aged about 29 and a resident of Masindi Police Barracks.

The Ministry of health team that carried out this Rapid Testing Survey, together with Police Management have put in quarantine all the 104 officers residing in Masindi barracks and their immediate their families. Officers are encouraged to report progress.

The Police Directorate of Logistics & Engineering will attend to the logistical needs of all the officers under mandatory quarantine until Ministry clears them. In the meantime, Uganda Police Force has sourced for re-enforcement from other stations to ensure that Masindi Police Station remains open as the institutions is aware of the need to keep the station running.

All officers and their families under quarantine shall be tested for the virus and further measures shall be communicated to ensure safety of all people wishing to access Police services at our stations.

In addition, all Police officers are advised to exercise precaution while going about their duties to avoid Contracting infections such as the COVID 19.
