The Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary Diana Atwiine has said that samples of two people who exhibited Coronavirus symptoms before their death have tested negative.
Panic ensued at St Mary’s Hospital Lacor in Gulu as a Kenyan Driver and a 18- year- old girl died on Monday after they had been put in an isolation unit.
The hospital then issued a statement saying the deceased’s samples had been taken to Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) to establish the cause of death.
The Ministry of Health appealed to the public for calmness as the samples were being tested.
Dr Diana Atwine told this website that, her team had started investigating the matter by picking samples from the deceased. “Results will be announced later,” said Diana.
On Wednesday Dr Diana told the media that they have been informed samples are negative.
“The samples are negative, according to what we have been informed. I don’t know what the circumstances of their death were. May be the people on ground in Gulu have information on whether the deceased had other underlying problems,” she said.
Uganda has not recorded any death(s) related to COVID-19. The confirmed cases remain 79 and 52 recoveries.
