The Ministry of Health says it has noted a statement issued by Lacor Hospital in Gulu on the death of 2 COVID-19 suspected patients.
Samples have been taken to Uganda Virus Research Institute Entebbe for testing and results shall be communicated shortly.
“We appeal to the population to remain calm and practice preventive measures” Ministry says.
On Tuesday, reports carried by the local media suggested two people had died of Coronavirus after their admission to Lacor Hospital.
But the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Health Diana Atwine told this website that, her team had started investigating the matter by picking samples from the deceased.
“Results will be announced later,” said Diana.
St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor has since issued a press statement in relation to the dead of the patients saying the deceased exhibited symptoms of Coronavirus.
And at a time of their deaths they had been admitted to an isolation unit.
“These 2 patients were referrals from other neighbouring health Facilities and came with other underlying diseases,” said the statement.
“The reasons we isolated them is because besides the other underlying conditions, they met the MOH criteria for COVID-I9 suspicion We are now waiting for the results of samples from these patients.”
