Four Tanzanians driver tested positive by ministry of health at Mutukula border for coronavirus have been intercepted in Pakwach in Northern Uganda on Friday.
According to District Health Officer for Nebbi District, the drivers were intercepted by Ministry of Health surveillance team that has been tracking them.
By press time ambulance had evacuated the patients to Arua Regional Referral Hospital.
The four are among six drivers from Tanzania whose samples taken at Mutukula border returned as positive after they had been allowed to depart. It remains unclear if these cargo drivers were headed for DRC or S. Sudan.
On Thursday the Ministry of Health announced that 11 cargo drivers who arrived in Uganda from Kenya and Tanzania have tested positive for Coronavirus.
According to the Ministry the new patients are 6 Tanzanian truck drivers who arrived via Mutukula border post and 5 Kenyan truck drivers; 3 arrived via Malaba and 2 arrived via Busia border posts.
The Director General of Health Services Dr Henry Mwebesa said health officials were tracking the drivers.
Emmanuel Ainebyona the spokesperson of Health Ministry when contacted said he was in touch with officials in Pakwach to vail details of those intercepted to ascertain if they correspond with those he has.
