Ugandan opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi has written to Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta amid the Coronavirus pandemic that is taking toll in some East African nations.
Kenya and Tanzania have since recorded the highest number of infections in the region as their cases keep soaring everyday.
Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine leads a budding political establishment, People Power and he has since expressed interest in evacuating Africans who trapped in China and have since been brutalized by the local nationals.
Kyagulanyi a critic of the Museveni regime assured Mr Kenyatta that his political pressure group stands with all Kenyans in this crisis.
He suggests that as East Africans they will overcome if they unite.
“Mr President, We salute your government’s efforts to curb the spread of the virus. We also pay tribute to your country’s public health professionals, scientists and other medical workers who are on the forefront, making incredible sacrifices to respond to this pandemic.” Bobi Wine told Uhuru.
“Your excellency we stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Kenya in these turbulent times as we always have.” He added.
Bobi Wine says he intends to write to other EAC leaders over the same.
“I sent messages of solidarity to their Excellencies the leaders of States within East Africa, Africa & the world. On behalf of the People Power Movement, I sent assurances that we stand with the people of the world in these turbulent times. Together, we shall overcome COVID-19,” Bobi Wine posted in his social media platforms.
Kenya has Wednesday recorded 9 new cases which bring to a total number of 303 active infections.
