7 Discharged today as COVID-19 Recoveries Rise to 45

COVID-19 Cases Rise to 45 in Uganda

Minister of Health Ruth Aceng announced the development.

Seven more patients who have been nursing Coronavirus in Mulago Referral Hospital and Entebbe Grade B have Wednesday gone home after recovering fully. These people tested negative twice which prompted clinician to in both facilities to release them.

Three patients were discharged from Mulago earlier Wednesday while four left Entebbe Grade B in the afternoon which brings the total number of those who have  recovered to 45 as active cases remain at 16.

Most of the COVID-19 patients had been admitted to these two medical facilities.

Uganda has since registered 61 cases of COVID-19.

“Excited to hear of the COVID-19 recoveries and subsequent discharges. Today we discharged a total of 7 patients; Mulago Hospital (3) Entebbe Grade B (4). Total recoveries are now 45 in Uganda. Glory to God,” the Minister of Health Dr Ruth Aceng took to Twitter to break the news.

Uganda has not registered any COVID-19 related death.

The government under President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni implemented tough measures since March 30 when an index case had been confirmed. The 36-year- old businessman tested positive for Coronavirus upon arrival from Dubai.

It later emerged that most of the infections recorded were returnees from UAE, Europe or USA.

The country remains under lockdown for more 13 days as a measure to mitigate the spread of the virus.
