Samson Kasumba Released

Kasumba interviewing Rwandan President Paul Kagame sometime back.

NBSTV news anchor Samson Kasumba has Tuesday evening been released from Kiira Road Police Station, NBS TV has announced.

“We thank all the stakeholders that have made this possible,” the station said on its Facebook page.

The news anchor was arrested Monday night from his workstation in Kamwokya.

According to an insider, Kasumba is accused of indulging in subversion.

Kasumba was arrested on Monday night outside NBS premises as he headed home after anchoring news bulletin along with Sheila Nduhukire.

He was arrested by operatives of Military Intelligence (CMI) who later handed him over to police and Kira Road for detention.

On Tuesday morning he was rushed to his home for a police search.

Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga told the media on Tuesday that they are holding Samson for “alleged subversive activities”.

He said they are using Kasumba to lead them to “search various places of interest in relation to the investigation against him and various other persons.”
