COVID- 19: Cargo Driver who Tested Positive Arrested in Kamdini Fleeing Uganda

A Ugandan male truck driver who previously tested positive for Coronavirus has been intercepted in Acholi region as he attempted to flee to South Sudan on Wednesday evening.
The driver aged 38, was tested at Malaba Border Tuesday on arrival from Kenya but allowed to proceed to deliver cargo to its destination as President Yoweri Museveni advised.
The Ministry of Health officials notified him about his results later. He refused to hand himself in for treatment.
The Director General of Health services Dr Henry Mwebesa confirmed the driver’s arrest after he was tracked by security and the surveillance team is currently tracing his contacts.
The Ministry’s spokesman Emmanuel Ainebyona said the driver has since been evacuated to Entebbe Grade B Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, 1032 samples tested Wednesday were all negative. Of these samples 551 are cargo transporters from different border points while 481 are from quarantine facilities.
The number of registered cases remain at 55 with 12 discharged after recovering.
