Uganda in Power Blackout as Citizens Anxiously wait for Museveni’s Address on Lockdown

The whole country has suffered power outage Tuesday just moments to much awaited Presidential address on extension of COVID-19 lockdown.

The power shutdown occurred at midday an hour to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s address.

Earlier his press office announced the addressed had been postponed to 1pm. It was slated for noon.

According to the President’s Press Secretary Don Wanyama, the fault in power transmission occurred at Bujagali Dam in Jinja after water weed blocked the turbine.

Mr Wanyama says the engineers are fixing the problem.

Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) was yet to issue a statement on the shutdown.
