President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has suspended public transport for 14 days after the number of COVID-19 cases increased to 14 on Wednesday.

Ministry of Health on Wednesday announced that 4 more cases had been registered bringing the total number to 14 in 4 days.

Addressing the country, Museveni said as a measure to prevent the spread of the virus since the new cases arose from different parts of the country, (Iganga, Adjumani and Kampala), public transport is likely to be a problem.

He has since suspended passenger buses, taxis, coasters, trains, Tuku Tuku and boda boda for 14 days.

He added that only private cars would be allowed moving but the number of occupants shouldn’t exceed 3.

The other vehicles allowed to move will be trucks transport commodities.

Museveni further said, the markets are likely to be a problem as well and has since permitted only food vendors in the markets.

He said the other place of human movement is government offices which will need to design a structure to reduce crowds in every department.
