Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has reminded the nation that UPDF and Uganda Police never forget their enemies like those who killed former AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi.
The First Son in his tweet said no matter how long it takes they will settle accounts with Kaweesi’s killers.
“It is 3 years since some criminals took your life my brother,” said Gen. Muhoozi.
The former SFC commander who is currently an advisor to the President on special operations took to Twitter on Friday to pay tribute to Kaweesi who was gunned down in Kulambiliro near his home as he left for duty at 9am on March 17, 2017.
“We shall settle accounts with them no matter how long it takes! UPDF and UPF never forget those who attack us! Rest in Peace my brother,” Muhoozi said.
Kaweesi’s assassins, according to forensics used powerful weapons to shower him bullets, his driver and the bodyguard. The trio died instantly.
Until today no individual has ever been convicted of Kaweesi’s murder although many had been held and produced in courts.
However, Court would later release some of the suspects as judges realised they were innocent.
The assassination of Kaweesi revealed a lot more rot in the police establishment which resulted into massive sackings, arrests and self imposed exile of a number of cops.
The former IGP Gen. Kale Kayihura until now remains home after he was arrested, detained, court-martialed and later freed on bail.
Some accounts suggested that he was behind the killing of Kaweesi, an allegation that has never been proved.
