The Local Defense Unit (LDU) attached to Rubaga battalion on Sunday night shot and killed three police officers who were involved in night robbery.
The killed police officers were identified as Byareta Ambrose, Turyomunsi Fred and one James.
This happened near ROMA Motel,in Nakinga zone, Bunamwaya parish, Makindye Sabagabo, Wskiso district.
The robbers (in both civilian and military uniform) targeted an airport taxi carrying a lady presumed to have just arrived from abroad.
She became suspicious when the numberless harrier kept following them from Entebbe and called her contacts in the army for help.
The robbers who were in a Harrier blocked the targeted vehicle and put the driver under gunpoint.
It’s at this time that the area LDU force swung into action, killing 03 robbers instantly, recovering a pistol.
We are working with all the relevant authorities to identify these robbers,and their particulars will be given out as soon as they are established and verified.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga when contacted on phone confirmed the robbery. “Yes it’s true UPDF conducted an operation and killed police officers that were involved but officers attacked to Kampala Metropolitan South are working with UPDF for more details,” he said.
