Fear gripped Ugandan legislators on Thursday as their colleague was ordered to exit plenary chambers by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga on learning he was returning from South Korea, a country that is grappling with deadly Coronavirus.
Hon Anthony Akol didn’t conduct a test as required by Minister of Health Ruth Aceng.
“I have ordered Kilak North County MP, Anthony Akol, to exit the plenary chambers, immediately. This followed his disclosure, while giving a point of info, that he had returned from South Korea on 5th March this year but had not been checked for the Coronavirus,” Speaker Kadaga announced on her official Twitter page.
Coronavirus has been declared by the globe’s health body- WHO as an epidemic which has claimed over 4000 people with almost 200000 testing positive.
60000 among the infected have since recovered.
South Korea is among the Asian countries which have been rattled by the disease having erupted from neigbouring China.
The disease has seen some countries declaring a lockdown while others have issued travel ban to their citizens.
No Coronavirus case has been reported in Uganda.
