People Power Movement leader Robert Kyagulanyi has revealed he is talking to UPDF retired General Henry Tumukunde who last week announced his bid to stand for President in the coming election.
Tumukunde’s declaration, to a section of the public is outshining Mr. Kyagulanyi who lately has been perceived as a new opposition messiah.
On Wednesday morning however, Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine said he wasn’t scared of any person who comes out to seek change.
Referring to Tumukundu, a retired soldier who closely served President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni after fighting in the bush, Bobi Wine, a musician- turned politician acknowledged talking to Mr Tumukunde whose announcement has since aroused excitement among Ugandans.
Without disclosing details, Bobi Wine told NBS that he welcomes all democracy and change seeking forces including Gen. Tumukunde.
“I must say that I met the General and we are talking. I had even met him in the past. But of course I will not tell you so much of what we discuss,” said Bobi Wine.
But he was quick to add that however, many Ugandans still have question for Tumukunde because of his past.
asked to substantiate, Bobi Wine said Ugandans know better.
Gen. Tumukunde last week wrote to Electoral Commission notifying them for his intention to consult the people of Uganda as he plans to stand for President.
As the longtime opposition leader Kizza Besigye who has contested for 20 years showing no signs of vying for President in this coming election, Tumukunde and Bobi Wine remain favourite opposition candidates.
Mr Tumukunde has served the regime in different top ranking positions as an intelligence chief and Minister of Security.
His intellect, rhetoric and boldness makes him outstanding.
Efforts to reach Gen. Tumukunde to substantiate on Bobi Wine’s claims very futile as he couldn’t answer our repeated calls.
