UPDF has come out to strongly rubbish off reports suggesting that the Commander of Land Forces Lt. Gen. Peter Elwelu is bedridden with a mental illness.

An online news outlet on Monday morning issued a report alleging that Mr Elwelu has been down for weeks and receiving treatment at Bombo army barracks where he has a private residence.

The story claimed that he has a strange disease.

Brig. Richard Karemire who speaks for then UPDF however, said the information is untrue and shouldn’t cause any anxiety.

He asked the public to ignore this article which bears no iota of truth.

“We wish to dismiss the rumour circulated by “The Capital Times”regarding the health of Lt Gen Peter Elwelu the UPDF CLF.There is absolutely no iota of truth in the mentioned article. The contents should therefore be ignored and not cause any anxiety,” Mr Karemire posted on his official Twitter page.
