Uganda’s wealthiest man, Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia has been appointed the honorary consul of the Republic of Nepal which located in the South of Asia.
The communication came through on Tuesday.
The formal ceremony of installing Mr Sudhir as a diplomat will take place in the first week of March in Kampala, the property mogul confirmed the news.
Sudhir will be presented by His Excellency Ambassador Jhabindra Aryal Rajdoot, the Nepalese ambassador to Egypt.
Ugandan and Nepalese governments established diplomatic relations in 2017 after H.E. Dr. Adonia Ayebare Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative of Uganda to United Nations signed on behalf of the Uganda and his counterpart H.E Mr. Durga Prasad Bhattarai signed on behalf of the Government of Nepal.
They were guided by the principles and purpose of the Charter of the United Nations as well as the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961 and Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963.
Famed for being the site of eight of the ten tallest mountains in the world, Nepal is vastly more than just a mountain climber’s paradise. It is rich in scenery, wildlife, culture, and tradition.
Sudhir has on several occasions visited the country during his vacations and in return promoted Uganda among the wealthy class of this country.
In fact, a Nepalese Restaurant was established on his multibillion skyscraper- Kingdom Kampala.
A consul is an official representative of the government of one state in the territory of another, normally acting to assist and protect the citizens of the consul’s own country, and to facilitate trade and friendship between the people of the two countries.
