Democratic President general Nobert Mao had no kind words for party warring faction led by Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, Mukono MP Betty Nambooze, Busiro East legislator Medard Seggona and Muwanga Kivumbi, the MP of Butambala.
Appearing on a weekly political talk show on NBSTV Thursday, Mr Mao who faced off with Seggona described this radical wing as ticks that have surrounded him and are ready to suck his blood.
A visibly angry Mao was responding to accusations of turning the party into his own house and refusing to relinquish leadership.
For sometime now, Mao has faced an internal hostility with those opposed to his leadership claiming that he has sold the party to ruling party because of his liberalism.
The rebel faction of DP subscribes to violence and is attached to People’s Government led by Uganda’s powerful opposition leader Col. Kizza Besigye.
7 days ago, there was a fist fight at DP head offices in Mengo and as a result the Vice President Mukasa Mbidde was injured in the scuffle.
Sulaiman Kidandal, a party top official who engineered the fight was suspended.
Mr Mbidde is a moderate and subscribe to Mao’s camp. He intends to contest for Masaka Municipality MP seat, a position that is occupied by a DP member opposed to the mainstream party.
Asked whether it was possible for peace talks with in DP, Mao with his good oratory wondered if it were possible for a “cow to sit with ticks and have a discussion.”
“Right now I am surrounded by ticks and they all want to suck my blood,” he added.
In the recent past, Mao has been accused of using abusive language while addressing his internal opponents.
The DP constitution stipulates that a party member shall at all times remain loyal to the party. It is against that backdrop that Mao questions the membership of the rebel- members who take orders from Col Kizza’s People’s Government and their audacity to claim DP as their political establishment.
